Frequently Asked Questions.

Are dogs allowed?

The most important question, obviously, so it goes first. YES, 100%. My parents wouldn’t have booked a venue if my besties weren’t allowed. That being said, I’ve been to the farm and met the bison—and let me tell you, they are not messing around. Stay far, far away from them and keep your humans on a leash near all animals.

I also saw some ducks and, well, I may have sprinted toward them… turns out, the guardian dog did not appreciate my enthusiasm. So yeah, I’ll be keeping my distance from all wildlife, and you should too. Just stick with the humans (and me), and we’ll have an absolute blast!

Are kids invited?

While we love kids and want everyone to have a great time, please note that this isn’t a kid-friendly wedding. Indian weddings tend to be loud and lively, so we understand if it’s not ideal for little ones. However, if you’re unable to make alternate arrangements, we’d still love for you and your kids to join us in the celebration!

If you do bring your little ones, please be aware that we won’t be providing special meals for them, but you're welcome to use the kitchen and fridge in the main lodge to prepare food for your babies.

Just let mum and dad know if you plan to bring them so they can accommodate accordingly. We’re looking forward to celebrating with you all, no matter the age!

What should I pack?

If there’s one thing to know about Squamish, it’s that the weather is unpredictable. And in shoulder season? Even less so. Nights will definitely be chilly, so bring a cardigan or a wrap. It could be sunny—so don’t forget your shades. It could rain—so pack a big umbrella and expect damp ground, so it’ll be best to leave those heals behind and stick to flat shoes.

Oh, and bring a bathing suit, towel, and toiletries. There’s a hot tub, and trust me, you’ll want to use it.

Most importantly, don’t forget to pack some treats—for me. I’ll be making my rounds, and a little snack tax is only fair.

What should I wear?

Don’t ask me—I walk around naked except for my collar. But I asked mom, and she said to check out this guide: What to Wear to an Indian Wedding. No pressure though—if you don’t want to go full Indian, just wear whatever you’d wear to a wedding. More details are on the Wedding tab on JakeandGaya.com!

Do I have to prepare a choreographed dance for this wedding?

You don’t have to… but Indian weddings are all about music and dance! We’d love for you to get together with your family and put together a fun 30-second to 1-minute performance. It doesn’t have to be perfect—if you’re feeling nervous, just repeat a few moves and you’ll be golden!

Hint: YouTube is your best friend. Search for easy Bollywood choreographies for weddings and get ready to bust a move!

If you’re arriving early, that’s the perfect time to squeeze in some last-minute rehearsals with your friends and family. The dances will be happening on Day 1 of the wedding weekend—September 19—so come prepared to light up the dance floor!

It would be amazing to have at least three performances—one from the Norley family, one from the Ashta family, and one from our Squamish crew. So rally your people, get practicing, and let’s make it a night to remember!

What should I gift?

We’re honestly not expecting anything. Some of you are traveling from far, and we know this trip can be a big expense. Your presence means the world to us! But if you do feel inclined to give a little something, a cash gift would be wonderful and much appreciated. As for me, I’ll be expecting belly rubs in person.
